Fair comment. I am in fact running the script on windows. Should the manual not make it clear that the file will be fundamentally different depending upon what platform the extract is run? Perhaps going so far as to detail what those differences might be.

Perhaps today I will spend the day trying to infer how dec(18,2) fields might actually be packed.
