Collecting statistics on materialized global temporary tables is one of the best features. If the table is used for "messy joins" as indicated
in the earlier note, for selecting values in reports, or for ELT processing, collected statistics will significantly improve the performance.
When collecting statistics on materialized global temporary tables, you must use the wording "Collect statistics on temporary
databasename.tablename ..." The syntax is the same except for the use of the word "temporary". If you are going to collect statistics at the
table level, you will have to collect statistics on the table definition for statistics you want applied before the table is materialized.
