If you data is going to be needed after several years, Archives are not a good idea.
Reason being, the Archival software versions change each year, and a backup from the current version of the software may be unreadable after
3/4 years with a new version of the software. In addition, for all you know, you might move from BAR software provided by company A to one
provided by company B, which makes your archive useless.
If it really is a case of the data potentially being required after several years, I would suggest saving the data to flat files, like text
files, which are platform/version/OS independent. Also, maybe an SLA stating that you will take at least x amount of time to recover that data
might be useful so you don't get into a crunch, and expectations are clear.
