Subj:   Re: Ab-Initio and "AMP lock table overflow"

From:   Victor Sokovin

The load components which is causing problem is the O-Table component using the API load. This causes rowhash locks to accumulate. I was under the impression that if Teradata sees a lot of rowhash locks it escalates it to a Table level lock, its certainly is not happening here. So what is the limit on the number of locks an AMP can handle?

This rings some bells, even with R4. Try Carrie's suggestions in

www.teradataforum.com/teradata/20031009_230918.htm and see whether you can apply them to the Ab Initio component.

As to the max number of locks, I am thinking of 2048 as the system-wide max number of active transactions. I cannot advise on the AMP- level limit. If I find more information, I'll report back.
