Shilpa, Fastload supports only empty Teradata tables. The main purpose of fastload is to load large amounts of data into an empty table at high speed As you said, in phase 1, the respective rows are present in AMPs but not sorted out in row hash sequence. Once enough rows are received to fill a block, the AMP writes the block to disk During phase2, each AMP reads the data blocks from disk, sort the data rows based on row hash and write the data back to disk.
