Steve,

The ResUsageSpma table is very useful in providing system-wide CPU and other information: see the Resource Usage Macros and Tables manual appropriate to your version of Teradata (some changes between V2R4 and V2R5).

I chart system-wide CPU activity at 10 minute intervals over every day/24 hour period using Excel.

I then average cpu activity in each slot over a month (all days, including and excluding weekends and public holidays) and track monthly activity over 13 months (rolling). There are lots of specific things you can do, tracking CPU activity is one of the most important ones. Monitoring Node activity (and disk usage) can help identify skewing.
