Dear Veteran Users: I am attempting to use a valued CASE expression in a select clause to simplify the values of a column. Similiar to the use of DECODE in an Oracle database. The data in this column can be any of 50 possible values. Everything seems to work fine until I reach the 33rd when clause within the CASE expression. Once I get to the 33rd when, I get a parse error. Up to 32 when's, everything seems to work. Is the a maximum number of when's in a CASE or should I be looking elsewhere for the cause of my problem? (I haven't spotted any mention of a maximum in the Teradata SQL reference.) Is there a better way to do what I am trying to do --short of creating a table and joining (I lack rights to create a table)? Thanks in advance for any suggestions/information. -- Eric
