We haven't spotted any performance reasons to not create as much forward or backward history as you see fit. The only issue comes around
purging of data. As you probably know, you can drop partitions with delete and it is a very quick way to get rid of data on large tables. There
are a number of limitations to this, especially if you have an unknown or no range partition and there were also a few bugs (3610s) that you would
need to check out with your support rep. None of these are a big issue and can be worked around, just make sure you check out and test all the
angles (as ever with the newer features) on query access and loading/maintenance processes before committing.
Cheers
Andy
