Subj:   FastLoad EBCDIC Files From a PC

We are currently evaluating using Teradata for our Data Warehouse. I am using the Teradata Warehouse 7.0 Demo CD to do some testing. I have downloaded some of our mainframe source EBCDIC files to my PC and would like to load them to our test Teradata server running on a Windows 2000 server using Fastload on my PC. From my testing and reading of the doc, it looks like the only way to load EBCIDC files to Teradata using Fastload is if we are running Fastload on our mainframe (which is utlimately what we'll be doing once we buy a Teradata server). I've looked at some of the character set options, but they seem to effect the entire session rather than just specifying the format of the source file.

The files are full of packed decimal fields so I can not just convert them to ASCII and I do not want to have to run them through some sort of conversion package/rtn to address the packed and comp fields.

Can EBCDIC files be loaded using Fastload from a PC client? If so how, if not, any other ideas?

Looking forward to becoming a real Teradata client.
