You use showlocks (available in Teradata manager or through the database window) to see the lock which is a utility lock. Can't recall the
exact syntax (check the manual), but you can use the following in queryman
release lock {databasename}, override;
We do this for DBC all at the end of our backups to make sure any locks are cleaned up. We had the same issue as you with our backup
client not talking to the database quite as well as it might.
