 To run BTEQ on that Sun machine you need to install the Teradata *client* software package on it. Such packages are available from NCR
for both 32- and 64-bit versions of the OS. It does not matter where the Teradata server software is installed; you will still be able to use your
Sun client and connect to the database. 
If you work on a PC, you need first to connect to the Sun machine (using (safe) telnet, for example) and then call BTEQ from Sun command
line.
