We have a 4 node 4800 system with 80 AMPs and V2R3. Using sar when the system is at 100% CPU, there is usually about 50-50 allocation of
resources between % user and % system. Since I understand that % user is a reflection of awt work, I would hope that % user would be at 65-75%
when the system is 100%. Am I being optimistic? Should 50-50 be expected when most of the work during daytime hours is being done by DSS queries
with lots of joins and spool files?
Using Session Information in Teradata Manager, Delta CPU for the active sessions totals about 150-200 CPU sec each 10 seconds for a system with
16 processors, does this seem low?
We are somewhat frustrated because when we have more than about a dozen active sessions, response times goes in the pits, and I would think TD
could effectively support many more users than that.
