I strongly suggest that you upgrade Informatica to at least 6.1 - 6.2 is the current version. In Version 6.1 Informatica integrated TPump, FastLoad and MultiLoad utilities. We've loaded hundreds of million rows with it and have yet to have an Informatica crash due to the newly integrated utilities. Informatica is working on additional enhancements to more tightly integrate with Teradata.

The Teradata ODBC driver on Solaris has been slow and defied tuning enhancements - Informatica's Version 5.1 made heavy reliance on it. We internally benchmarked TPump at 9x faster than ODBC through the same Informatica workflow. Be careful when assessing Informatica if you're using ODBC on Solaris - the issue isn't Informatica!
