If you read the entire text of my first reply, I apologize that you were confused by the statement regarding the optimizer's decision on
whether to use a secondary index. This, as stated does not apply to SPOOL and therefore applies to permanent and global temp tables
only.
The other part of my original reply indicated that a derived table is materialized in SPOOL. Therefore, you are correct in that Teradata
will not use a secondary index for any access of a derived table, because there are no secondary index definitions in SPOOL.
