Subj:   Re: Difference between Perm and Spool

From:   Muhammad Amjad

Hi All,

When you use Teradata Sysint utility. The Teradata initial users and data dictionary tables are created. The Initial Administrator is DBC. In the start DBC own all the disk space you have.

Then you need to create SYSDBA and need to leave some space in DBC for data dictionary, temp space, spool space, jounrals and rest of space need to move to SYSDBA.Then you use SYSDBA perm space to allocate space to different users databases.

The different between spool space and perm space is that perm space is alocated to database will not share with other databases. Spool space is a reserved space which is share by different users and in the users queries use this space to format the result sets.

Thanks

Amjad
