As stated NULL can be compressed in a timestamp data type.
The ability to compress non-null values for timestamp, time, and interval data types is on the list of candidate features for
consideration for future Teradata releases. However, the feedback we've received from the Teradata Partners Advisory Committee is that
value compression for time/timestamp/interval types is a low priority.
I understand the predicament with the missing T in the ETL leading to 28% of rows having the same timestamp value.
I'm curious whether there are other applications that have frequently occurring values in time/timestamp/interval data types and if so,
why.
