Mike,
I think your gut feeling is correct.
You'll probably only (?) need to use double quotes on any sql statement that references such a name. I'm guessing that the logon is ok
because the Teradata logon string is effectively delimited:- "/" terminates the tdpid, first "," terminates the userid whilst second one
terminates the password. of course, a username including a comma (if allowed) may cause additional problems.
I'd avoid this unless you absolutely have no choice.
