I agree but most small and middle tier companys, as well as many larger business, do not purchase hardware of this magnitude outright.
Most Teradata installations I've been involved with are by leases. So, one might venture to guess that NCR may be sweating bullets when it
comes time to negotiate or extend a new lease, if other, faster, less expensive hardware is available. Especially if the existing data
structures can simply be transplanted without any re-engineering...
