Subj:   V2R5 Install on Dell

From:   Dean Halter

I am trying to install v2r5 on a Dell 2600. After installation of Windows 2000, I select the typical PUT installation and everything appears to work fine. Our database administrator then runs BTEQ scripts to create tables and issues a number of Fastloads to import the data. At some point, usually after a large number of tables have been successfully transfered, the system will hang and require reboot. This seems to occur when processing larger tables. I applied TNT patch 5.0.0.18, but that did not resolve the problem.

I also have a couple of questions concerning the RAID configuration. The Perc 4/Di controller is configured to provide 2x RAID1 disks for the operating system/applications and 4x RAID5 striped disks for Teradata use. PUT asks for a RAID level during installation. How does this relate to the hardware controller RAID? Also, the documentation suggests we disable the hardware RAID controller BIOS, but this doesn't allow us to boot the system.

I am running out of ideas and would appreciate any help you could give me.

Thank you in advance.
