Teradata Manager 6.0 does have changes in the area of filtering sessions. It was always intended that we do NOT raise alerts (including Aborting sessions) for utility jobs ... but we forgot that each utility job also has a control session that looks like a regular session. Previous versions would abort that session (and therefore the utility) if it remained Idle. (Which it usually does.) The new version will detect that it is part of a multi-session job and ignore it. (This means that ALL multi-session jobs - including BTEQ, CLI, etc. - will be excluded from alerting.) You can also specify UserNames that are to be excluded from Alerting. Therefore, if you use names created specifically for your utility jobs, you can add these names to the Excluded User list. (This will work with earlier versions of Teradata Manager too.) While on the subject... Mike Dempsey
