I think that idle sessions have a minimal impact on system resources wrt performance. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
There will be an impact to the number of users(sessions) that can sign on. Each LAN PE can have a maximum of 120 sessions each. If you
had a 10 node system with 1 LAN PE per node, you have a maximum of 1200 sessions available - and some documentation I've seen indicates that
the system 'holds back' a few per PE, so the maximum is more like 118 per LAN PE. So if demand for sessions is lower than the maximum
available, you don't have a problems.
