Subj:   Re: V2R5 - Roles and Profiles?

From:   Greene, Thomas L

I've have a similar strategy, but with the following twist:

I don't want my users to have to change their active role to get access to objects, so I create a unique user role for every user. Then I grant the subject area roles and user group roles etc. to the users' roles. This allows me to give special roles to individual users such as managers etc. I have not had any trouble with this approach. Nor have I seen the behavior you describe. I love the new roles feature!

I also have a role for my data loading activities. That works great too except for one minor hitch. You may not grant WITH GRANT OPTION to a role. Thus, I have to place my error tables in the same database as I am loading.

By the way, I love the new profiles feature too. It is an easy way to manage at what priority my users groups will run.
