Ian, There have been studies done that basically determined that at some point, more sessions per utility don't increase throughput signifigantly. I know I've seen slides on this, but can't remember if there is a whitepaper or not. Anyways, the 16 sessions is used by a lot of sites; I believe it was just a suggestion that appears to work pretty well. I personally tailor my sessions to the volume, because at some point, it can take longer for the utility to sign on all the sessions, than to actually load the data. For instance, if you are fastloading only 10,000 records, this most likely can be completed with 4-8 sessions, before all 280 sessions would get connected. Play around a little and see.
