Fred, the problem is that the users transfer GB's of data off of Teradata into SAS data sets. Their expertise is using SAS not SQL and there is no changing the mindset. The transfer times of this amount of data is over 10 hours using SAS Access for Teradata. Fast Export transfers it in 10 minutes. The problem we then have is translating the Fast Export file into a SAS data set - FEXP Format Text Mode Record still leaves anomalies that SAS does not understand - I am using File Import Wizard in SAS. I am far from a SAS expert. What I do not want to have to do is build complex scripts at the Teradata & SAS ends to convert the data. This whole problem goes away when SAS V9.1 is released and taken up by our users - this supports Fast Export. However, in the mean time how can we have a process that pulls data off of Teradata and loads it into SAS. Cheers Ian
