Sounds as if you are trying to use some precompiler other than the Teradata ones. If so, use the right precompilers.

With respect to using the Teradata precompilers and the tdpid/uid,pw the client interface needs installation on the Unix machine and tested with BTEQ. Then you know the tdpid/uid,pw stuff works.
