Hi, For all recent releases of Teradata, statistics are vital if the optimiser is going to get the correct join plan. If you don't have stats on the PI of a table then the optimiser will ignore any other stats that are collected on the table. Stats help the optimiser with row count, data value skewing within a column etc. There are some access paths which typically will not be chosen unless there are stats on the relevant column/index (e.g. value-ordered nusi). I think you'll find that the general consensus is that stats are no longer optional, they are a requirement. Cheers, Dave
