Andy,
Fastexport will have additional spool requirements. There is one additional redistribution because it's Fastexport and a second
additional redist if the SELECT includes an "ORDER BY". Either of these could cause your query to bomb if it's close to the edge anyway.
As a suggestion, reset the user's peakspool figures to 0, get them to run the query in queryman and see how close it gets. Then reset to
0 and run in Fastexport and finally check peakspool to see if you're getting much skew.
