You do not indicate what the bteq environment is.... In a UNIX/shell environment this is but one variant of how one could do what I think you are asking.....

LOG_FILE=file_name.filetype
uid=bteq_user_id
pwd=bteq_user_password
date_parm=mm-dd-yyyy

#### run BTEQ
