Srini,

A little difficult in Teradata. There's no direct equivalent.

Assuming that your "setup the environment" involves issuing DDL commands then you can't use transaction locks.

Probably your best/safest bet is to revoke everyone's AccessRights for the duration of your processing. This is either

-- at the database level if your talking about setting up tables, views and macros etc within a single Teradata database but you want people to be able to acess other databases on the same machine, OR

-- at the logon level (i.e. remove the ability for people to logon to the machine) if you're talking about setting up an entire Teradata machine.
