Well if everything else is equal and normally set up, as you add disks to the same nodes and Vamp configuration, you would normally see performance slow down. However, there are very many variables to this analysis. The reason is that each amp now has more space to manage with the same constant processing power. More disks usually mean more data. More data usually means more work (processing). More work with the same processing power, usually results in decreased performance, but like I said there are many assumptions and variables here. In a parallel system the CPU and I/O systems must be kept in balanced proportions. We usually have a range where adding disks won't substantially impact performance if the systems are in balance. As you add nodes of different speeds we sometimes do require a change in the configurations to optimize the performance of both the new and older hardware and configuration options. This can also occur in systems with the same node types but with differing amounts of disks on each node. God Luck, Eric EJK
