Hi Dave , response to your reply below 1) v2r5.0 So I believe - if its ok I will swap this one out for Frank's 1) Users who are interested enough in their query performance to read the explains! - Fantastic idea. 2) why not use pmon? I am a novice with PMON but I don't seem to be able to get the current total cpu or i/o for a query - the "total AMP cpu" option appears to be for the session and most of our users log on at 9 and log off again at 5 (on the Friday more often than not !) and the "delta AMP cpu" appears to be since the last time I refreshed rather than start of active query. I just thought it would be nice to run sel * from dbc.activequeries where probably wrong='y'; Dennis , thank for your advice
I had read about this but neither myself nor our DBA's have had a chance to play with it yet. My original wish was for he Teradata system itself to be intelligent and intuitive enough to learn about the persistent problem users in the same way we all do. I would envisage the implementation of such a feature to also include DBS control settings for maximum strength of sarcasm / abuse in error messages for example 0 mildly polite up to 10 for extremely offensive, I would love to see the users reaction to "Error 4926 - For god sake I don't believe you have done it again, the joins all wrong , its gonna skew to 1 amp and you are going to shaft every competent user on the system. Please find an alternative career". It is only a wish list after all :-) Howard
