3NF is stable and durable while DM makes specific queries run faster. So, can (one instance of) EDW contain both 3NF tables and also contain DM tables which will be automatically kept consistent (refreshed) with the base 3NF tables? i.e. can we build data marts inside DW? This is probably the next big trend in DW that major RBDMS will focus on.

I think Teradata's answer is to implement this by join indexes. But it some side effects ...
