Subj:   Re: Veritas NetBackup Question

From:   Frank C. Martinez IV

Hi!

I had a question for the Veritas admin guy we have here, and while I was talking to him, I asked him about your question. He says there's both a Windows and a Java client. He prefers the windows client, but actually for most admin tasks he signs on with Exceed and runs command line stuff strait on the Solaris 7 and Solaris 8 servers. So it's obviously possible and works.

We've got things a little more complicated here at Goodyear, because the guys who run Veritas for all the backups (of all of the boxes not just Teradata) run the "media server", the Teradata boxes are "clients" and I (as the Teradata dude) run a special "admin client" of Veritas which allows me to backup & restore, as well as being the client that actually runs the backups that are scheduled by the "media server". Makes sense?
