Howard,
There's a 'default date' parameter within DBSControl. You may find that the date column in your new table is being formatted based on
that (I'm not saying that's right, but...).
The other thing you may want to try is issuing the same sql through bteq and queryman (i.e. cli and odbc). When you issue a standard
create table command including a date column and do not specify any format statement you get different FORMAT clauses.
