Well Donald, to finish my contribution to your initial question, I'm going to tell you a good reason for using a different approach :

* Having the SA key created during the Fastload job, has a better performance because it remove the process from Teradata, avoiding further and heavy redistribution during the creation of the new UPI (insert select with different PI)

I'd like this reason the most because it's concrete and easy to quantify. If performance was an issue in your environment, maybe this was one of the key objections.
