All, I have a question on the space utilization of a database. Suppose i have a database say "EmpDB" which has a single table "employee". Now this table contains say 6 rows. Suppose the defintion of the table "employee" is as follows : Create table employee ( empid integer, empfirstname char(30), emplastname char(30), location char(40), doj date); All the fields in this table are fixed length fields. Suppose we have a 4 amp configuration. Now using Filer i am able to get the Tableheader row length and also the row length of the rows. Now summing these values say i get a value "A". Now using a query on dbc.diskspace i get the currentpermspace used by this database "EmpDB". I see a considerable difference between the value "A" obtained above and the value returned by the query. Why is this difference? What more needs to get into "A" which would make it equal to sum(currentpermspace) w.r.t the database "EmpDB" Thanks Narayan Murthy K S.
