Our method (with Oracle Express) was to set up two user types. 1. Third Party Tool User wiht the standard ID. User maintains password. 2. Application User. Standard ID plus prefix. Oracle Express server knows the password. Server takes standard ID adds prefix and sends modified ID plus password to Teradata. Each application, we have three separate applications, has its own prefix. User does not know about this ID or the password. This way, we can have separate security for the same individual depending upon how he accesses Teradata. We also can simulate single sign-on. We have been running this for a couple of years without any issues.
