In a similar vein, I once experienced a lot of strange activity surrounding a SAS-generated insert from TeradataTableA to TeradataTableB. SAS decided to export the data to the SAS server then re-load it to the target table.

I believe we were very reasonable in our stance that this was sub-optimal!
