Todd,
I have to admit that I was surprised by your response below. I acknowledge that it's good news with respect to space utilization and
thruput, but I'm having a problem with some of the implications. If an alter table fails (or is cancelled) when it's adding 1 or more
columns, I understand that undoing the alter is probably doable without any long winded log (transient journal or other structure). If it
fails, however, when deleting 1 or more columns, how does the process restore the deleted data without some kind of log?
