Situation:
We're trying to improve the teradata performance by creating JOIN INDEXes. We consulated NCR documentation, this list and played around with JIs.

Now we have still these Questions:

1) Under which circumstances are JIs used?

2) How (how much columns: less or more) should a JI be constructed?

3) How does the SUM in JI work? - applicable in this scenario: rows with 'valid from' / 'valid until'?

Any help is greatly appriciated.
