We installed the production version for V2R4.0 last year and suggested several changes/fixes. MDS needed to be more user friendly on
loading the data. We had to write DOS scripts to load comments for databases, tables, views, columns, etc. For a system with several
thousand tables, views, and users, it was slow and cumbersome. We exceeded limitations during updates and the product abended. For the
average size system it may work better, but for Kmart, it wasn't something we could use last year. The Beta V2R4.1 version looked like a
significant improvement, both in performance and ease of use. We looked at it last Spring/Summer. We will look at MDS again after we go to
V2R4.1.1 in 1Q02.
