I posted an enquiry some time ago to the address on the Ask Todd page in the Teradata Magazine site but have yet to receive even an acknowledgement, let alone a reply. Maybe poor data distribution is causing it to hot-amp, who knows.... Anyway, I would like to know the following: 1) Is there a detailed explanation of the meaning of all of the fields in the PMON Physical and Virtual Resource Usage screens, and how they should be used. Both the course notes and the manual are lacking in detail on this subject. 2) Is there any way to access CPU and IO usage per session per VPROC? PMON gives usage per VPROC (virtual mode) or per node (physical mode) in a nice graphical format. However, if CPU or IO usage is uneven across the VPROCs it is necessary to find out which session (not which user, as they can initiate multiple sessions) is giving rise to the problem. PMON does not appear able to provide a breakdown within the VPROC. The table DBC.ACCTG gives CPU and IO usage per user and account by VPROC but this data is cumulative, and therefore gives little insight as to what is happening right now. 3) On a lighter note, and to satisfy my own curiosity, does anyone know why Teradata as a technology has such a low profile over here in the UK (and maybe the rest of Europe)? Is it the same in the US? Many thanks, Paul Johnson.
