I don't believe that there is anything wrong with current_time or current_timestamp. If you do it in a BTEQ script you will see the correct results. When using QueryMan it does return *** -BUT I don't know why - a 'feature' I believe. If you are using QueryMan, CAST it as Neil Meade has recommended.
