Subj:   Teradata ODBC and SQL Server

From:   Gary Brown

Has anyone experienced problems accessing Teradata via ODBC using SQL Server? A user gets a non-response (timeout?) when trying to link to our dw.

Details follow:

TD ODBC v2.08 (tried 2.04, 2.06)
SQL Server 7.0, svc pk 2, desktop edition

IBM PC 300-GL
Win95 v 4.00.950c
128MB RAM
PIII, 535 MHz

The DTS (Data Transformation Service) utility is a built in SQL Server component that is used to set up and handle the database connectivity. The user identifies the data source name, a user name and password and then expects to connect. It seems to hang there non- responsively. He also attempted extending the timeout settings to no avail.

Our SQL Server DBA was not successful searching Microsoft for related problems.

ODBC access is successful using Hummingbird's BI/Query and MS Access 97; Teradata ODBC DSN configured appropriately (at least for BI/Query and Access)

Any suggestions?
