I saw this email thread, and thought I would send a clarification. Teradata is supposed to also be shut down gracefully on a power
failure. If the system didn't shut down Teradata gracefully, then something else is wrong... repeated power failures too close together so
the UPS doesn't have a chance to recharge, incorrect system configuration, or just a bug. I have asked the support organization to contact
John to get to the root of the problem.
