Hi Linda:

It sounds like your problem centers on the wrong file FORMAT being used.

The default format for Fastload on non-mainframe machines is called FASTLOAD. It includes a 2-byte record length (VLI) at the front of the record and the CR you have been trying to incorporate.

If there is not VLI at the front of the record, you probably need to add a FORMAT statement and I think the type you want is TEXT. You should double check this type definition in the reference manual against your data record.
