Linda,

You could try VARTEXT as Richard suggested or try adding a two-byte 'filler' at the end of your define statement and using the SET RECORD UNFORMATTED command.

This will tell Fastload to use the DEFINE statement as the exact record descriptor and not assume anything else about cr/lf bytes etc.
