Subj:   Re: What to do about JDBC Problems

From:   Bharat Tripathi

Hello loadc,

We are also having lots of trouble installing and testing the JDBC.

We procured the NCR JDBC Gateway Software for NCR MP-RAS UNIX. Then NCR informed us that we needed a web server for it to work. So, we downloaded, compiled and installed Apache Web Server on the Application Node. Then we found out that we have to install a Java Server on the machine. We tried to install Jakarta Tomcat but so far have been unsuccessful. We just found out that we have to have JRE to be able to install Jakarta Tomcat. NCR has not been able to help us on that.

I was intereted in knowing what kind of environment you have at your site. Do the client workstations need anything to be able to use JDBC (NCR's manual seems to indicate that nothing is required on client workstations other then a later version of web browser).

I would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks in advance,

Bharat Tripathi
