The system I described earlier I called HeartThump - I avoided the name HeartBeat as a few years back we had another system called
HeartBeat which, if memory recalls, timed a simple query and recorded the ping returns between the nodes.
If anybody would like to discuss with me how HeartThump is pieced together, then please drop me a line. I have avoided any detail here
as the original posting was for a MVS environment, and HeartThump is UNIX. The conceptual side should be the same, irrespective of
implementation.
