Folks,

I also work for the person ejected from the T-Data-L list. As many of you know, he is a wonderful person who has dedicated his professional career to promoting Teradata. My employer is one of the most requested Teradata instructors in the industry. We were caught off guard by the hasty negative action taken against him because anyone who has worked with him has always been so positive and grateful.

Jay is to be commended for his dedication to helping others in the Teradata community. He is in an awkward position, having ejected one person for contacting some individuals on the list and subsequently allowing someone else to broadcast an advertisement to everyone on the list. The perception is that there is a double standard. While we believe that Jay overreacted in this matter, my employer has agreed to step aside and accept Jay's banishment. With regard to the beta-testing email, we have no desire to see that person or anyone else removed from such a helpful discussion group. Our company has both competed and partnered with NCR's Global Learning for training over the years. But in the end we are all on the same team trying to see Teradata users succeed. There are simply too few hours in the day for us to reach all of the people who need Teradata help. The discussion focus should be on comments and questions that are fully conducive to Teradata growth. The silver lining here is that perhaps a site or group will be set up to allow list members to share information about their products or services that pertain to Teradata.

If anyone is on our mailing list that does not want to be there please write me a private email requesting you be taken out of our database. We apologize for any misunderstandings or inconvenience.
